Quinesha Morgan currently serves as EHS's Assistant Director of Research Safety. In addition to supervising the research Safety group, she is responsible for conducting routine safety audits and inspections of biological research laboratories for regulatory compliance as well as compliance with LSU policies and procedures. Her duties also include periodic consultation, advisement and training on bio-safety guidelines and regulations to University students, staff and faculty. As a part of the University’s Inter-Institutional Biological and Recombinant DNA Safety Committee (IBRDSC), Dr. Morgan assists with the review of research protocols involving infectious agents, toxins of biological origin, etiological agents, and recombinant DNA which results in proper advisement concerning the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and the necessary bio-containment of specific agents. Dr. Morgan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans and a Master of Science degree in Microbiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She completed her doctoral studies, evaluating the virulence of a putative hemagglutin gene in Brucella melitensis, in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences at LSU.
