Industrial Hygiene
Industrial hygiene involves the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace and health hazards. The goal of industrial hygiene is to keep employees, their families, and community healthy and safe. Industrial hygienists play a vital part in ensuring federal, state, and local laws/regulations ae followed in the work environment.
LSU’s industrial hygienist or IH is a member of the EHS team. LSU’s IH focuses on four broad areas within the EHS team, these include: air quality, ergonomics, fume hood safety, and manages the respiratory protection program for campus.
Each of these areas has many responsibilities and reasons why you may see LSU’s IH around campus. If you feel you need to speak with the IH for any reason please reach out to LSU EHS at 225-578-5640.
