Biographical Sketch

Professor Bhaba Sarker is currently the Elton G. Yates Distinguished Professor of Industrial Engineering. Earlier he taught at many universities including the UT-Austin, Texas A&M University, Syracuse University, and was visiting faculty at Sun Yat-Sen University, Beihang University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology in addition to many other universities in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. He is currently serving as the Associate Director of Trans-IPIC at LSU. He also worked with NASA (MSFC, KSC, JSC), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the World Bank, and the Energy Resource Center, Norman, OK.
Dr. Sarker performs research in production and manufacturing systems; he published extensively in many refereed journals and proceedings and presented technical papers in national and international conferences. His works have been well cited with a high h-index. He is selected as Fellows of South-Asia Institute Science & Technology (SAISE) and the Institute of Industrial Systems Engineers (IISE).
Professor Sarker is on the Editorial Boards of many journals in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, and a regular reviewer for more than 40 journals, National Science Foundation, and other federal and state funding agencies. He supervised many post-doctoral scholars and served on many MS thesis and PhD dissertation committees at LSU and overseas. Dr. Sarker’s teaching and research interests are in supply chain management, warehouse logistics & distribution, lean production informatics, sequencing & scheduling, quality control, reliability engineering, linear and nonlinear programming, and optimization applied to military logistics renewable energy, and precast concrete & transportation infrastructure.
Dr. Sarker’s research is funded by the National Science Foundations (NSF), US Army Corps of Engineers, Army Research Office, Office of Naval Research, USDOT, NASA, IBM, and other agencies. He is a member of ASEE, IIE, DSI, INFORMS, POMS, and New York Academy of Sciences.
