In his lecture “Deep Listening and Listening to the Deep with Homo Sargassum,” Professor Munro illustrates how sound, foundational to all Caribbean art, illuminates representations of the sea by some of the key authors and critics of the region, before turning to the traveling exhibition and experimental documentary art film project Homo Sargassum in which dozens of artists from the Caribbean, West Africa, and Latin America collaborate with scientists, researchers, and tech companies on a major ecological and public health challenge that impacts the three regions: the sargassum algae. |
