Innovation & Ecosystem Development

In a bold, strategic move, the LSU entities that support innovation and business development have joined forces under the new Office of Innovation & Ecosystem Development.

LSU Innovation oversees the LSU Innovation Park, a 200-acre park that fosters early-stage tech companies, and the Office of Innovation & Technology Commercialization. LSU Innovation is the host organization for the Louisiana Small Business Development Center and its many consulting services. LSU Innovation also helps Louisiana companies apply for federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer grants and connects firms to federal laboratories.

Faculty

"Working through the intellectual property process with LSU Innovation has been especially good for my students because most of them will be going into industry. Here, they get to interact with companies and patent attorneys. They learn the whole process. That's crucial to their future success, and I really like giving them that opportunity."  -- John Pojman, inventor, patent holder, entrepreneur, and chair, LSU Department of Chemistry

Start-ups

“Honestly, it would have been a much harder road for me without LSU Innovation. I’m not saying I wouldn’t have gotten here, but they made it a lot easier for someone with zero experience. They helped me put my business plan together. They helped me put the package together for the bank. They knew what I wanted to do. They believed in my idea.” -- Will Edwards, LSU Innovation Park graduate and founder of The Kolache Kitchen, seven locations in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Key West
