Courses

The Manship School’s graduate program offers courses that range from hands-on professional development classes in the areas of strategic communication, political communication and journalism to scholarly courses that serve our doctoral program and students pursuing a master’s degree on the scholarly track. Each year the faculty evaluates our course offerings and new courses emerge. If a student is interested in a topic or course that is not offered, he or she can pursue independent study with a faculty member. The LSU General Catalog has a list of all courses offered by the Manship School.

While some of our courses are standards for any graduate mass communication program, others are special to the Manship School and not commonly offered in other graduate programs. A few examples: Crisis Communication, Political Communication Writing and Sports Journalism: Louisiana Football at the professional master’s level, and Seminar in Media and Public Affairs Theory, News Media and Governance, Race & Gender in Political Communication, and Emerging Media: Theory, Application and Effect at the doctoral level and for the master’s scholarly track.
