Biography
Catherine Chen, Ph.D., is an assistant professor and the Mary P. Poindexter Endowed Professor at the Manship School of Mass Communication and the Department of Political Science at Louisiana State University.
Chen's research centers on understanding the antecedents, structure and consequences of political attitudes among Americans. Her work focuses on examining people’s perceptions of science and technology using survey, experimental and computational methods Her first-authored research has been published in a variety of interdisciplinary journals. Her research has received support from multiple funding sources, such as the Stanford Center for Democracy (SCAD), the Stanford Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (IRiSS) and the Rapoport Family Foundation.
Chen earned a Ph.D. in communication from Stanford University, where she also earned an M.A. in political science. She holds an M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University and a B.A. in communication from Hong Kong Baptist University.
