LSU Civil & Environmental Engineering Team Examines Effects of Rising Sea Levels Along Texas Coastal Bend
According to the Texas General Land Office, 64% of the Texas coast is eroding at an average rate of six feet per year, with some areas losing more than 30 feet per year. Coastal erosion for any city or state means property values decrease; homes and businesses are lost; local economies feel the impact of less tourism; farming and fishing industries are impacted; and roads and infrastructure are at risk. Nothing can be done to control Mother Nature, but creating buffers between storm surge and the land can greatly reduce coastal erosion over time.
Alex Garn Named Interim Director of the School of Kinesiology
The LSU College of Human Sciences & Education named Alex Garn, PhD, as interim director of the LSU School of Kinesiology. Garn will begins this role immediately, following the retirement of Director Melinda Solmon, PhD.

LSU Names Danny Barrow Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success
Danny Barrow has been selected to serve as LSU's Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success, pending approval by the LSU Board of Supervisors. Barrow has been serving as the Interim Vice President since March. In the permanent role, Barrow will continue to lead recruiting and retention efforts that attract the best and brightest students who will succeed in the classroom and beyond, continuing to elevate LSU's academic profile.

Leading School in Library and Information Science Announces New Name – LSU School of Information Studies
The LSU School of Library & Information Science announced today they will be changing their name to the LSU School of Information Studies. The change reflects the school’s expansion into additional areas of education, including the Archival Studies and Records & Information Management Graduate Certificates. The school also offers an undergraduate minor in Digital Studies and two general education courses.
