Congratulations, ECP Summer 2023 Graduates!

BATON ROUGE – The Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership (CCELL) and LSU Campus Life are pleased to announce that three seniors will graduate with the Engaged Citizen distinction for Summer 2023.

Collectively, these students have earned 23 service-learning credit hours and have volunteered approximately 312 hours across their local and global communities during their academic tenure at LSU. Some of this cohort’s volunteer opportunities include working with local animal shelters, food banks, and museums as well as projects with the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, Front Yard Bikes, the DREAM Association, and Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center.
“We are thrilled that our three graduates provided service in critical areas such as coastal restoration, work with Louisiana youth, and health and wellness,” said CCELL Director Dr. Sarah Becker. “We are very proud of the work they did, which went above and beyond the requirements of this distinction program.”
CCELL and LSU Campus Life established the Engaged Citizen Program to support and recognize the accomplishments of undergraduate students who engage significantly with their communities to address critical community needs. Any undergraduate student can apply to be a part of the program.

To earn this distinction, the students must meet the high standards of the Engaged Citizen Program. Requirements include completion of a minimum of seven credit hours of service-learning designated coursework, a minimum of 100 hours of community service with approved organizations, and a reflective paper detailing how the work fulfills LSU’s Commitment to Community.
