The LSU Center for Energy Studies is hosting its first alternative energy conference on March 2-3, 2005. The event, which will be held on the LSU campus at the Energy, Coast, and Environment Rotunda Conference facilities, will address a wide range of alternative energy topics and how they impact the traditional energy industries of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. A special emphasis of the conference will be on identifying the meaningful opportunities and outlooks for various alternative energy technologies.
Some of the topics that will be covered during the event include:
- The outlook for wind energy on aging oil and gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
- The opportunities for green pricing of electricity in the region.
- The possibilities for the development of a hydrogen economy within the Gulf Coast industrial corridor.
- CO2 sequestration & enhanced oil recovery in mature fields.
- Bio-energy opportunities in rural areas.
- The competitive advantage of energy efficiency.
- Utility initiatives on energy use and the environment.
