The LSU College of Engineering is a family of practical problem solvers building a better Louisiana. Our students, faculty, and staff are united by purpose: to serve our state and the world.
LSU Engineering adds significant value to Louisiana by launching well-paying careers, filling workforce needs and creating and supporting businesses. We also invent the materials, tools, and technologies that build a healthier, cleaner, more prosperous future here in Louisiana, across America, and around the world.
Whether it’s reducing air pollution, protecting against cybercrime, or building more energy efficient homes, what works here can work everywhere.
The College of Engineering is a major driver of LSU’s mission. Enrollment is second
only to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Nationally, LSU Engineering ranks in the nation’s Top 50 for undergraduate enrollment
and the number of bachelor’s degrees granted, according to the American Society for Engineering Education. Upon graduation, 89%
have jobs or continue education with an average salary of $85,667.
LSU Engineering home to a broad range of disciplines, including computer science and
construction management, and is rich in resources. Patrick F. Taylor Hall is the second largest university engineering building in the
country. The college’s 145 tenure-track faculty are leaders in construction, energy,
cybersecurity, and the digitization of industry. The Louisiana Board of Regents has
approved a new School of Construction, positioning the college to lead a once-in-a-generation
transformation of the construction industry.
LSU’s best assets are its relationships. Faculty are collegial, staff are committed, and everyone supports students, who work together in over 40 student-led organizations. Alumni are active. They develop curriculum, advise chairs, mentor students, raise money, and create internship and service opportunities.
A key differentiator for the college is its industry partnerships. Dozens of companies power progress through philanthropy and contract research, including ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, Microsoft, Dow Chemical, Amazon, and Hyundai Steel.

The primary mission of the College of Engineering is to impart knowledge and learning skills to its students while also creating new knowledge and seeking innovative ways to improve people’s lives.
Vision
Our vision is to harness and enhance the College of Engineering’s resources. In doing so, we will continuously transform the lives of the citizens of our state, the nation, and the world through: research and innovation, instruction and learning, and outreach and engagement. We seek to establish the College as a critical asset for Louisiana citizens, industry, and government.
