Finding Your Track
As a computer scientist, you can focus on a number of sub-fields. A degree in computer science will give you versatility in the ever-evolving modern work-force and ensure that you will not only be able to find a job, but also find one in any number of industries focusing on your specific interests and passions. We offer three concentrations: cloud computing & networking, data analysis & analytics, and software engineering. Students may also select any secondary concentration.
Cloud Computing & Networking
Cloud Computing & Networking focuses on cloud computing, a modern approach to computing that relies on the sharing of resources across computing devices. Cloud computing is efficient and cost-effective compared to traditional computing, and companies are increasingly adopting cloud computing in various ways.
Cybersecurity
The field of cybersecurity involves protecting networks, devices, and data from unauthorized access or criminal use and ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. Cybersecurity is one of the most critical fields in computer science, with increased emphasis on securing systems in the private sector, government, and the military.
Data Analysis & Analytics
Data Analysis & Analytics focuses on the process of recording, managing, and analyzing large sets of data using software. Students in this concentration will become familiar with software tools used to store and manage large data sets and understand how to extract usable information from the data using those tools.
Software Engineering
Software Engineering focuses on preparing students to design and develop quality software using engineering principles. Because most career fields use computers in some way, this concentration has a wide variety of applications in many sub-fields.
