Safe Space Training
Through Safe Space Training, we want to identify and educate people who will affirm and support people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, etc. with the goal to increase allyship.
In the training you will learn some basic LGBTQ+ terminology and ways to make your language more inclusive, summarize key milestones in LGBTQ+ history, explain key concepts related to sex and gender as they relate to LGBTQ+ identities, and share information about campus and community services and resources.
Safe Space Training
The new Safe Space Training offers two different tracks:
- Track One: participants will complete the online Moodle course only and will receive a certificate upon completion. The online Moodle training should take 2-3 hours to complete. Everyone who completes the training will receive a certificate of completion—this is not the same as being Safe Space certified.
- Track Two: participants will complete the online Moodle course and will enroll in a 4 hour in-person course. Those who complete both tracks will be eligible to become Safe Space certified and receive the Safe Space sticker. If you choose Track Two, the dates for in-person trainings will be provided in the registration form.
You will be able to choose your track preference on the registration form. Once you register you will receive detailed information about how to access the Moodle Course and next steps.
