LSU was the first of 28 universities across the nation to unveil a limited-edition “Jack Goes Back to College” product line, featuring LSU gear, at a special event at midnight on April 4 at the LSU Barnes & Noble Bookstore on campus. The event coincided with the national launch of the product line.
The apparel collection was designed and produced by Cactus Jack, the official brand of multi-platinum recording artist Travis Scott. Scott surprised LSU students by personally attending the event at the bookstore and even met with students and student-athletes while on campus, including the LSU football and women’s basketball teams.
The “Jack Goes Back to College” collection features products from 28 universities across the nation, including LSU. Some of the other featured universities will hold their own events in the coming days, but Scott is only expected to appear at two other events.
More than 1,500 LSU students attended the launch. Students began lining up outside the bookstore early in the afternoon, and while waiting in line, were entertained by a DJ and provided with coffee and beignets from LSU Dining. LSU President William F. Tate IV was on hand for the launch, along with Michael Rubin, founder and CEO of digital sports platform Fanatics. Former LSU football standout, Super Bowl champion and ESPN analyst Ryan Clark also attended the event.
Travis Scott personally greeted the first LSU student in line and signed autographs for him when he entered the bookstore. Members of the LSU women’s basketball team, including Angel Reese, assisted bookstore staff in checking out and bagging purchases for students buying apparel.
To create the product line, Cactus Jack teamed up with Fanatics, leading sports retailer Lids, and Mitchell & Ness to come up with the first-of-its-kind collegiate-inspired apparel collection that brings together collegiate pride and streetwear style. The collection offers a unique selection of headwear and apparel for college students across the nation.
Beginning April 4, the collection will be available online at shop.travisscott.com, select Lids locations, campus bookstores operated by Barnes & Noble at the participating universities, and Fanatics.com. Each university will have unique products, including Mitchell & Ness snapback hats with university branding, and a variety of clothing options ranging from $68 to $160.
