American College of Veterinary Pathology Award of Excellence in Anatomic Pathology: An award is presented to a Year IV student who displays exceptional proficiency in diagnostic clinical pathology and its practical application to clinical cases.
American College of Veterinary Pathology Award of Excellence in Clinical Pathology: A certificate is presented to a Year IV student in recognition of outstanding achievement, proficiency and interest in veterinary pathology.
American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology Award: An award, a certificate and a two-year membership in the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology are awarded to a Year IV student for enthusiasm for and an understanding of diagnostic and clinical dermatology.
American Association of Feline Practitioners Proficiency Award: One year of free membership in the American Association of Feline Practitioners are given to a Year IV student who has demonstrated a special interest and proficiency in feline medicine and surgery.fai
American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Certificate of Clinical Excellence: A certificate is presented to two students who demonstrate proficiency in small animal medicine and one student who demonstrates proficiency in large animal medicine, and who all exhibit a sincere interest in internal medicine, possess outstanding didactic and clinical skills in internal medicine, and emulate the mission of the ACVIM.
American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists Award: A one-year subscription to the Veterinary Ophthalmology journal is awarded to a Year IV student who demonstrates the greatest proficiency in veterinary ophthalmology.
American College of Veterinary Radiology Award: A one-year subscription to the journal, Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound, a one-year membership and free registration to an ACVR conference are presented to a Year IV student who is judged by the radiology faculty to excel in clinical radiology and to display outstanding enthusiasm and understanding in diagnostic and therapeutic radiology.
American College of Veterinary Surgeons Proficiency Award: The American College of Veterinary Surgeons presents a certificate and a 12-month subscription to Veterinary Surgery to two Year IV students who have demonstrated academic and clinical proficiency in companion animal and large animal surgery, respectively.
Arkansas Veterinary Medical Foundation Jack R. Redman and Elizabeth G. Redman Scholarship: An award is presented by the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Foundation to the top Year IV students from Arkansas based on academic performance and leadership potential.
Bayou Kennel Club, Inc. Scholarship: One scholarship is presented to a Northeast Louisiana high school graduate based on scholastic ability, financial need, and activities.
Outstanding Food Animal Senior Student Award: An award and a plaque are presented to a Year IV student who has shown a special interest and proficiency in food animal medicine.
Avian Research Scholarship: Recipients of this scholarship must be full-time students enrolled at the School who have an interest in avian medicine.
Dr. Barry Robert Memorial Scholarship: A scholarship is awarded to a student who has an interest in laboratory animal medicine.
Certificate of Excellence in Equine Medicine and Surgery: Certificates are presented to Year IV students in recognition of outstanding achievement, proficiency and interest in equine medicine and surgery.
Companion Animal Medicine Certificate of Merit Award: The small animal faculty recognizes excellence in companion animal medicine by awarding certificates of merit to select Year IV students.
Companion Animal Surgery Certificate of Merit Award: The small animal faculty recognizes excellence in companion animal surgery by awarding certificates of merit to select Year IV students.
Dean Peter F. Haynes Equine Award : An award is presented to an incoming Year III or Year IV student who has excelled in clinical surgery and medicine and has shown a special interest in clinical equine research, as judged by the EHSP faculty. The award will also be based on participation in equine activities and their leadership, citizenship and character.
Dechra Award for Excellence in Dermatology: An award is presented by Dechra Veterinary Products to a Year IV student who demonstrates a high level of clinical proficiency in veterinary dermatology.
Dechra Award for Excellence in Equine Sports Medicine: An award is presented by Dechra Veterinary Products to a Year IV student who demonstrates a high level of clinical proficiency in equine sports medicine.
Dechra Award for Excellence in Small Animal Medicine: An award is presented by Dechra Veterinary Products to a Year IV student who demonstrates a high level of clinical proficiency in small animal medicine.
Dr. Rickey Broussard Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice Award: An award is presented to a Year IV student who has been “voted/selected” by the clinical faculty as demonstrating a proficiency in clinical skills and practice.
Edward Lloyd Mitchell Memorial Award: The Friends of Edward Lloyd Mitchell present an award to a Year IV student who, as judged by fellow students, is an unselfish, loving person with a deep sense of responsibility to the veterinary profession and to animals. The name of the recipient will appear on a plaque that will be permanently displayed in the School of Veterinary Medicine.
Audrey Engelhart Scholarship in Shelter Medicine: This scholarship will be awarded to a Year IV student on a full-time basis as a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine candidate with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher who have demonstrated proficiency in shelter medicine and/or have demonstrated through externships or extracurricular experience a strong interest to enter into shelter medicine practice.
Heartland Veterinary Partners Business Award: An award is presented to recognize and reward outstanding DVM students focused not only on the science of veterinary practice but also on the business decision making, responsibilities that seek improved profitability, competitive advantages and long-term success in practice management.
The Hershey Comeaux Memorial Award of Excellence: This award is presented by the staff of the Small Animal Intensive Care Unit to a Year IV student in recognition of his/her superior technical abilities, unselfish attitude, knowledge, common sense, judgment, and genuine concern and compassion for the patients under his/her care. The name of the recipient will appear on a plaque that will be permanently displayed in the School of Veterinary Medicine.
IDEXX Proficiency in Companion Animal Medicine Award: An award is presented by IDEXX to a Year IV student who has excelled in companion animal medicine.
Kaytee Outstanding Senior Award in Avian and Exotic Animal Medicine: An award is presented by the faculty of the bird, zoo, and exotic animal medicine service to the Year IV student who demonstrates the greatest proficiency in avian and exotic animal medicine.
Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association Clinical Proficiency Award: An award is presented to a Year IV student who, in the opinion of the food animal faculty, demonstrates superior proficiency in both individual animal and herd health aspects of bovine practice.
Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association Outstanding Student Award: An award is presented by the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association to a student from Years IV who is selected by the faculty on the basis of scholastic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability, and professional attitude and acumen.Oncology Certificates of Merit: The oncology faculty recognizes excellence in oncology by awarding certificates of merit to select Year IV students.
Theriogenology Clinical Proficiency Award: An award is presented to a Year IV student who demonstrates an exceptional level of clinical proficiency in veterinary theriogenology.
Robert B. Lank, DVM, Memorial Scholarship: A scholarship is presented to a Year III or IV student demonstrating a strong interest in and dedication to food animal medicine.
Robert Rosenthall Senior Student Award for Proficiency in Clinical Oncology: A certificate, a one-year membership in VCS and registration to a VCS annual conference are presented to a Year IV student deemed to have an outstanding aptitude for and competence in the diagnosis, treatment, and general care of animals affected by malignant disease.
Texas Equine Veterinary Medical Association Scholarship: Recipients of this scholarship must be full-time senior level students enrolled in the SVM Equine Health Studies Program, who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have demonstrated proficiency in equine medicine or surgery.
Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana Award: Awards are presented to students selected by faculty in recognition of their service and contributions to the Wildlife Hospital of Louisiana.
