External Scholarships

 

To supplement federal aid and awards provided by LSU, students are encouraged to apply for scholarships offered by external organizations, which can be used toward their total cost of attendance. The tabs below contain external scholarship award opportunities as well as a list of trusted scholarship databases and resources. Students should apply for as many scholarships as possible, but should not have to pay to use search tools or apply for awards.

If you are awarded a scholarship from an entity outside of the LSU system, please ensure checks are made payable to Louisiana State University and mailed to:

Please ensure the student's name and UID number are provided with the check. If the check is made payable to LSU and the student, please endorse the check. 

BigFuture - The program guides juniors and seniors through the college planning process and offers the chance to earn scholarships, from $500 to $40,000, for every action that students complete.

Dell Scholars Program – Recognizes academic potential and determination in students that have a definite need for financial assistance.

The Fox Pest Control Future Leaders Scholarship is designed to support students who demonstrate leadership, community involvement, and a commitment to personal growth.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation – A national scholarship provider dedicated to advancing the education of promising students who have financial need. Open to high-achieving high school seniors who seek to attend and graduate from some of the nation’s best four-year college and universities.

The Live Like Alex Scholarship, offered by Sumsion Business Law, honors the memory of Alex Lawrence Johnson by awarding $2,000 annually to a deserving student. Open to full-time U.S. college students, it recognizes qualities like leadership, service, integrity, and dedication to family.

Next Generation Healers Scholarship: We recognize the critical role healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, therapists, psychologists, counselors, and social workers, play in guiding individuals through recovery and fostering overall wellness. To support the next generation of these vital professionals, we are proud to offer a $1,000 scholarship specifically tailored for working students.

NSHSS Foundation – The NSHSS Foundation fosters the growth of students pursuing the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), business, economics, public policy, and environmental science and sustainability fields. The NSHSS Foundation connects young scholars with additional opportunities to advance their education, personal growth and career interests.

Reagan Foundation Scholarships – Scholarship opportunities for outstanding student leaders.

SoFi Scholarship Giveaway Sweepstakes is currently open. A new winner is selected each month.  Register for a chance to win a $2500 scholarship for college by December 31, 2026.

Therapy.com is offering $2,250 in awards for U.S. students who are passionate about expanding mental health access. The essay-based application is free to access, and no transcript is required. The Therapy.com Mental Health Scholarship allows you to share your insights on one of the most important conversations in healthcare: How can we improve access and support for mental health?  Open to current and incoming U.S. college students of all majors. The deadline to apply is November 30, 2026.

Fastweb – Create a profile and let fastweb do the research on scholarships, internships colleges and more for you.

Scholarships.com– A free college scholarship search and financial aid information.

Scholarship America – Provides information and resources for your scholarship search.

Scholly – A mobile app that provides students with a fast and simple way to find scholarships for college.

SoFi - There are countless scholarships, fellowships, grants, and more up for grabs. Streamline it all with the Scholarship Search tool and save your college stress for tests (and dorm drama).

Student Scholarships.org – A free college scholarship search and financial aid information.

LASFAA - The Louisiana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (LASFAA) will award up to five (5) $400 Mildred D. Higgins scholarships annually, with each scholarship being awarded to a student attending a LASFAA member school in one of the five state systems.  Scholarship recipients must be a 2026 Louisiana high school graduate and enrolled full-time at a LASFAA member school for the 2026-2027 academic year.  The deadline to apply is June 30, 2026.

LELA has an opportunity for you to apply for the $1000 CHOOSE Louisiana Scholarship. One entry per person allowed.

LELA Incoming Student Award: Louisiana high school seniors graduating in 2026, who complete a FAFSA for 26-27, are eligible to register here for a chance to win a $1000 scholarship. One entry allowed per person.

Chegg – A place to connect with helpful individuals for assistance with assignments, writing help, and finding/renting textbooks.
